Dr Paula Martin is the Educational Outreach Officer for the Department of Physics at the University of Cambridge, enthusing students and teachers with the delights of science by introducing them to the work of the Cavendish Laboratory.

She earned her PhD in Geology from University College London in 2002 and her primary research interests are the geology and geophysics of Mars and Venus.

Paula is a co-author of the highly successful Mars in the Classroom project, which provides an exciting programme of hands-on and thought-provoking science activities for students aged 13 to 16.

Paula was a keen sports player and spectator, her main interests being team sports including netball, football, volleyball and hockey. Her participation in team sports was brought to an early end by a serious knee injury sustained during a competitive netball match. She continues to enjoy watching sports and, having learnt how to walk again following major surgery, likes to spend her time hiking and camping.
