Why Sustainable Engineering?
Previous work for Alison Cooke includes presenting at events organised by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, attending Energy Efficiency in the Built Environment and supervising for the Cambridge Program for Sustainability Leadership. While more recent work includes public engagement for Carnival UK Group and for People Power Social Club on Sustainable Energy, Climate Change and Wingsail Technology.
In 2007, Alison Cooke, founder of Cooke Associates, made the decision to launch a new theme for Cooke Associates in the area of Sustainable Engineering. Her probono work as a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers from 2007-2009 led to her becoming chair of the UK steering group of the international energy project, Future Climate – Engineering Solutions.
This led to further work in energy; for example, the project Energy Efficiency in the Built Environment (EEBE). She has also lectured, both in the UK and abroad, on subjects related to Sustainable Engineering for a variety of audiences, including the Fulbourn Forum for Community Action, Sheffield Diocese – Church of England, the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, the Institute of Physics, the Urban Land Institute, the University of Cambridge and the Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership. She has also presented at events organised by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
